About the XN-550 Automated Hematology Analyzer

The XN-550 is the automated instrument in Sysmex's XN-L Series, built for the small hospital, clinic or physician office laboratory. It adds an automated sample loader with intelligent rack sampling and automatic rerun and reflex functionality to XN technology, and reports an automated six-part differential including immature granulocytes on every sample. Throughput is up to 60 samples per hour in whole blood mode from a 25 µL aspiration, using fluorescent flow cytometry for the differential and reticulocytes, DC impedance with hydrodynamic focusing for RBC and platelets, and the cyanide-free SLS method for hemoglobin. It accepts standard and BD Microtainer MAP tubes, and reticulocyte and body fluid parameters are available as optional licenses. Learn more about the instrument at the manufacturer's product page.

Why practices connect the XN-550

Rerun and reflex rules keep the instrument working without a tech standing over it. The same should be true of the results it produces. Delivering each CBC to the chart as it completes means no batch of printouts waiting to be entered at the end of the run, and staff are notified as results land in the record.

XN-550 connectivity questions

Can the XN-550 connect to my EHR?

Yes. ConnectivityWise interfaces the Sysmex XN-550 and posts its results into your EHR automatically, matched to the order where you use one, or filed directly where you don't. Nobody retypes a value.

Which EHRs can the XN-550 send results to?

Any EHR or EMR that accepts results, including Epic, athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, NextGen, Oracle Health, Greenway, and PointClickCare. Automatic result upload works with any order and results workflow.

Does quality control from the XN-550 get captured?

ConnectivityWise captures quality control results alongside patient results, so your CLIA records are complete when an inspector asks. What a given instrument reports varies by device, so we confirm exactly what your XN-550 emits during implementation.

What does it take to connect a XN-550?

The Data Sync Agent, one small install on any Windows computer in your organization, collects results from the instrument and syncs them securely to the ConnectivityWise cloud. A single installation covers every instrument and location you have, and a named human guides the setup and validation end to end.
