About the SOFIA 2 Fluorescent Immunoassay Analyzer
SOFIA 2 is the second generation of QuidelOrtho's benchtop fluorescent immunoassay instrument. It reads lateral-flow cassettes using proprietary immunofluorescence chemistry: an ultraviolet LED excites the strip and an optical sensor scans it, collecting hundreds of data points so the instrument reports an objective, automated result rather than a line someone has to interpret by eye. QuidelOrtho states the SOFIA benchtop systems deliver results in three to 15 minutes with about one minute of hands-on time, and that SOFIA 2 with Advance Result Technology can return a positive in as few as three minutes on some assays. The menu covers influenza A+B, RSV, group A strep, SARS-CoV-2 (alone and combined with flu), Lyme, and Campylobacter. The SOFIA-branded assays run on both the SOFIA and SOFIA 2 instruments. Learn more about the instrument at the manufacturer's product page.
Why practices connect the Sofia 2
A three-to-fifteen-minute immunoassay only changes the visit if the clinician sees it before the patient leaves. Connecting the SOFIA 2 puts each result into the chart as soon as the instrument finishes reading the cassette, and staff are notified when it lands: no copying a positive off the screen, nothing lost between the bench and the EHR.

Sofia 2 connectivity questions
Can the Sofia 2 connect to my EHR?
Yes. ConnectivityWise interfaces the QuidelOrtho Sofia 2 and posts its results into your EHR automatically, matched to the order where you use one, or filed directly where you don't. Nobody retypes a value.
Which EHRs can the Sofia 2 send results to?
Any EHR or EMR that accepts results, including Epic, athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, NextGen, Oracle Health, Greenway, and PointClickCare. Automatic result upload works with any order and results workflow.
Does quality control from the Sofia 2 get captured?
ConnectivityWise captures quality control results alongside patient results, so your CLIA records are complete when an inspector asks. What a given instrument reports varies by device, so we confirm exactly what your Sofia 2 emits during implementation.
What does it take to connect a Sofia 2?
The Data Sync Agent, one small install on any Windows computer in your organization, collects results from the instrument and syncs them securely to the ConnectivityWise cloud. A single installation covers every instrument and location you have, and a named human guides the setup and validation end to end.
