About the DPNCheck Nerve Conduction Test Device
DPNCheck is a handheld, point-of-care nerve conduction device used to detect and stage peripheral neuropathies such as diabetic peripheral neuropathy. It is not a blood test: the device stimulates the sural nerve at the ankle through a single-use biosensor and records the resulting response on the calf, reporting two quantitative measures: sural nerve conduction velocity in meters per second and response amplitude in microvolts, each compared against normal limits (NeuroMetrix publishes thresholds of >40 m/s and >4 µV). A test takes about 30 to 60 seconds and can be performed by a medical assistant or other clinical staff with minimal training. Learn more about the instrument at the manufacturer's product page.
