About the Afinion 2 Analyzer
The Afinion 2 is a compact multi-assay instrument for near-patient testing, built around an all-in-one test cartridge that carries the integrated sample collection device and all the reagents for a single test. It runs quantitative HbA1c on whole blood and ACR (albumin, creatinine and the albumin/creatinine ratio) on urine, with HbA1c results in roughly three minutes from a 1.5 microliter capillary or venous sample. Abbott states it was the first point-of-care HbA1c assay cleared by the FDA both to aid diagnosis of diabetes and prediabetes and to monitor it.
