Order required
An order is placed in the EHR before testing. Each result matches to its order before it files. If a result arrives without one, the operator gets an alert to resolve. That check helps confirm the result lands on the right patient's chart.
Order optional
Prefer to skip the order step? Results file to the patient's chart on their own, with the test, time, and operator captured. A good fit for verbal orders, standing orders, and high-volume workflows where speed matters most. Some EHRs also allow the documentation to be easily added after the result has landed.
