Lamprey Healthcare has always sought to provide excellent care for the patients they serve. So, naturally point-of-care testing is part of their workflow for many of their patient visits due to its ability to improve provider decision making, avoiding loss to follow up and improve the overall quality of care.
As point-of-care testing has become more common, the benefits have also come with some burdens. Their Medical Assistants are always busy juggling patient intake, vitals, and other procedures trying to both stay engaged with patients and providers and perform all of their tasks. Point-of-care testing has increased that burden with hard to read instrument printouts, multiple trips to testing locations and tedious result transcription to athenaOne.
Beyond the real challenge of just keeping up with patient flow, Lamprey also had challenges with their point-of-care testing including data entry accuracy, missed billing, and timely result entry to athenahealth.
ConnectivityWise point-of-care middleware now connects Lamprey Health’s point-of-care testing systems for HbA1C and 11-way urinalysis to athenaOne. In total 8 instruments across 3 primary care clinics are now seamlessly and securely networked to the ConnectivityWise portal.
The project required minimal time from Lamprey IT and clinical staff, Lamprey Health’s IT team provided network information to connect instruments.
Now, with ConnectivityWise middleware, Lamprey Health Medical Assistants have improved workflows and time to focus on quality patient care.
